System safety.
4.9.1
Touch current (leakage current). Equipment Touch Current shall not exceed 3.5
mA when tested IAW UL 60950-1, section 5.1 (see 3.16.1)
4.9.2
Electric strength. There shall be no insulation breakdown when a test voltage of
1500V is applied IAW UL 60950-1, section 5.2 (see 3.16.1)
Retained charge. The power supply shall not present a shock hazard at any external
4.9.3
plug or point of disconnection due to stored capacitor charge IAW UL 60950-1, sections 2.1.1.7
and 2.1.1.8 (see 3.16.1).
4.9.4
Grounding continuity. Continuity shall be determined between the grounding pin of
the attachment plug and accessible dead-metal parts of the power supply using a suitable
continuity-indicating device such as an ohmmeter.
4.10
Reliability test. The following test shall be performed. Upon completion, test
items shall meet the requirements of 3.11.
4.10.1
Early failure period. Upon completion of the early failure period test, test items
shall meet the requirements of 3.11.
a)
Place the test items in a test chamber capable of maintaining 149 ± 2°F (65 ±
1.1°C) and providing a single-frequency sine-wave vibration at 2.2 gravitational
acceleration units peak at a non-resonant frequency between 20 Hz and 60 Hz.
Connect the test items for 230 VAC, 60 Hz input and full-load output, with sensors for
input and output voltage and current.
b)
Set the chamber to 149 ± 2°F (65 ± 1.1°C), once the test temperature is
reached, allow the test items to stabilize for not less than four hours
c)
Subject power supplies to the vibration described by step a above for not less
than 20 minutes without applying any load.
d)
Once the vibration period is complete, subject each power supply to a load of
not less than 25 amperes at 28.0 volts output with an input of 230, +0, -5 VAC and a
frequency of 60 ± 5 Hz for not less than four hours.
e)
Once the full-load period is complete, allow each power supply to return to
room ambient conditions and stabilize for not less than two hours.
