Commercial Item Description
This commercial item description covers battery changes for KR142/XXX (NEDA 15NC), KR257/XXX (NEDA 14NC), KR334/XXX (NEDA 13NC or 16NCD) and NEDA 1604NC nickel-cadmium secondary batteries.
Salient characteristics:
These characteristics concisely describe the essential physical and functional/performance characteristics of the commercially available item.
Solid state circuitry.
Reverse polarity protection for batteries.
Chargers shall provide average rated capacity in 16 hours at 25oC for batteries discharged to 0.9V or 5.4V (1604NC).
Listing mark in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories Standard No. 1236.

The issue of UL Standard 1236 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with this requirement.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
