COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BATTERY CHARGER, SINGLE PHASE, FOR
CHARGING 16-CELL INDUSTRIAL STORAGE BATTERIES
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification W-C-260.
This commercial item description covers battery chargers for charging portable lead acid batteries in cycle service such as forklift trucks and other materials handling equipment.
Salient characteristics:
Solid state circuitry.
Full wave rectification with minimum three AC voltage taps.
Reverse polarity and surge voltage protected (output voltage held 10 + 1.0 percent for + 10 percent AC voltage variation)
AC and DC overload protected with fail safe operation (failure of any component will not result in damage to the battery due to overcharging or overheating).
60 Hz AC.
Scaled ammeter
Indicator light.
Automatic timer with charge termination.
Automatic taper and equalizing charge.
Furnisihed with 10 feet DC leads and any Anderson SB, EC, YC or Russel & Stoll 31000 and 31010 charging connector.
Diodes, transformers and capacitors conforming to industry standard.
Conduit connected.
Markings, including identifying, rating, and cautionary, in accordance with UL requirements.
UL listed (conform to UL standard 1236); the issue of UL standard in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Industrial battery charger- 16 cells- single phase.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The battery chargers shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order
